At first the news about Shiri Bibas feels shocking, then not really. This is the lowest of the low so nothing is really surprising.

Your earlier question about what is Israel to do, unfortunately, was very prophetic given this latest next level atrocity.

The remaining hostages are likely the only thing keeping every last building in gaza from being leveled which is probably what hamas wants ultimately.

Potentially, this may have just weakened Egypt and Jordan's resistance to taking gazans because Israel will probably soon, ramp up operations and trump and others will demand "innocent" citizens to be removed from harms way (as if hamas would allow it).

Queue the apologists. It's right about now that they slither out of the cracks to say that Israel deserves all of this for being colonists and oppressors and every other blame item they can justify.

If Egypt or Jordan or any other designated country agrees to finally take in the Palestinians, it’s going to be very interesting to see where they settle them. I can guarantee they will not be released into the local population; after all, every Muslim country has done everything they can to prevent Palestinians from settling in their country. There’s a very good reason why Palestinians are viewed this way and personally, I cede to their judgment. At this point, it’s hard to imagine there are any innocent civilians in Gaza. I don’t say this from the heat of the moment, but from years of hard cold observation and from living in Libya for over 10 years. My Egyptian friends in particular held great animosity towards these people.

My husband unexpectedly passed away at home on January 12 from an enlarged heart, blood clots in both lungs, and a massive heart attack. I couldn’t save him. I know what I am going through. I can’t even begin to imagine what that family is going through. The innocent pay the price for evil.

I'm so sorry. Yes, the innocent suffer for the sins of the wicked.

Karen, Thank you for writing. It’s how I have felt today. Anger, rage, and sadness. I read this passage.

Psalm 83: O God, do not remain silent;do not turn a deaf ear, do not stand aloof, O God.

See how your enemies growl, how your foes rear their heads.

With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish.

“Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.”

Make them like tumbleweed, my God,

like chaff before the wind.

As fire consumes the forest

or a flame sets the mountains ablaze,

so pursue them with your tempest

and terrify them with your storm.

Cover their faces with shame, Lord,

so that they will seek your name.

May they ever be ashamed and dismayed;

may they perish in disgrace.

Let them know that you, whose name is the Lord—that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.”

G-d bless Israel and His People.

I believe there’s a solution that G-d will bless. Put all 2 million Gazans into the 500 miles of tunnels they built, then deploy bulldozers to cover the holes so that all of them can feel eternal wrath! No need to spend money on bullets or bombs. Let’s just call it suicide.

Blessings to you for standing up for the Jewish people in this way. I was raised by Christian parents who taught me and my siblings about our debt to the Jewish people. Everything we have as Christians comes through our Jewish legacy. 🙏❤️😢

Exactly correct. Many Christians seem to have forgotten that in these dark times.

Thank you, Karen, for speaking on behalf of those whose light has been snuffed out by Hamas, and for those of us too pained to write very much at all today. You are more appreciated than you can know.

I appreciate you continuing to speak. Your words help me understand what is happening in and around Israel. There are so many opinions out there, more against Israel. The way you write about all the events, the details, the history, and your unique insights - you have a way of pulling it all together. I hope you heal quickly from the illness.

Hang in there, Karen. Please give yourself some respite from time to time. When it starts to feel like bone on bone, back off a bit and let the energy tank refill. This will not be over anytime soon. Please protect your health and vitality for the long haul. Don't lose the little bit of buffer that makes it possible to stay sane and productive in the midst of the horror and brutality.

“I couldn’t help myself; I had to write another piece today.” (lol)- I understand completely. You know, it’s strange to feel these bonds of friendship with people that we’ve never met. Even more, I was getting concerned that you were burning yourself out. There was a tone of despair/ anger/ suffering in a recent piece that made me feel like you were determined to keep driving forward even when the gas tank was empty. So, I’m happy to hear that you’ll be taking my advice!

Now, it’s time for me to read your most recent post ;-)
