terrific interview! I love this line (poor Yasmine's mama) "Not My Mohammed"--would that not be a purr-fect title for a book? Also sort'a jaw droppin' about the everyday "cheatin'" that goes on--like with the ATM at the hotel... sheesh, sounds hard ta navigate even if yer aware--was it pervasive in Luxor too? (hate ta say it but it sounds like a stereotype come ta life... is this a thing? do they only "cheat" infidels or their own too?)
Thanks. Ha-ha, Not My Mohammed, I am sure there's already a book with that title. It's a saying in Egypt. My Mohammed is Different. MMD. It's so funny because every woman thinks it. I had a very smart friend there, she had a high-powered job in Luxor, was there for about a year on this job, and had traveled all over the world, and yet she fell for a sailor guy on the dahabiya, she there was no way you could tell her he wasn't in love with her. And this guy was in his forties, had told her he wasn't married, had never had sex before her and she believed him! I just... no words.
ha ha, oh my such a great story (but yup, no words...I guess she was just in the land've wishful thinkin'!) It seems that these Many Mohammeds who are actin' badly ("bad" actors) are really good at actin' (hence "good actors") so it's too bad they're all grifters an' their faith prohibits the stage & screen where perhaps they'd be safer foolin' folks "fer entertainment purposes only!"
there are (in the biz) a LOT of famous actors/actresses that did a real boffo job of convincin' the audience they were in love when they actually couldn't stand their screen partner... or at least stand ta be near 'em--I 'member also bein' CRUSHED ta hear that Clark Gable had gawdaful breath from his dentures an' fondness fer onions an' all his leadin' laydeez would just run fer fresh air after any "romantic" takes... also read the same fer Angelina Jolie (her apparent uber bad breath was due ta bein' in near-ketosis--like starvin' ta stay skinny...)
anywhoo, if it ain't a book title it should be (I'd say shame on the mamas that raised their sons ta lie so... they'ze all Ma Barkers!)
I finally had a chance to listen to you and Yasmine! (whilst tread milling)
I love Yasmine!! thank you so much for sharing, finally, this lovely friend that this quote resonates with your triumphant growth and success. I love hearing your story. What gems both of you are
I think, at this point, the point has been endlessly repeated. Islam is evil and treats women horribly. The Jews and Israel are the examples of a perfect people who we should envy.
There is much more happening in the world than repeatedly hearing the same things over and over here.
If one wants to hear about the evil of Islam, listen to Pam Gellar instead. I do listen to Pam, and I had higher hopes for this Substack page. The author seems to be stuck in a rut.
Simply my opinion but it is like a broken record here.

Can't we change the topic every once in a while?
Geez.
