I find most people either love them or hate them. I fall in the second camp. I have never seen one that I liked, and don't understand the attraction at all. Perhaps I'm just old and disagreeable.
I wonder if there's an average time before people with tats regret them. I'm guessing it's not very long. Getting chipped like a dog will probably also produce buyer's remorse.
I tried to brainwash my kids against getting tattoos by saying “imagine grandma with a tattoo”. So far my son is still tat-less (I think) but my daughter is not. I’ve lost track of how many she has... at least she doesn’t have “sleeves”. John Irving wrote about the tattoo addiction in one of his books... can’t recall the name. Great post Karen, thank you!
I don't trust Musk anymore than I trust Bill Gates or Klaus Schwab, maybe even less. He manages to spout stuff that the gullible swallow - hook, line and sinker.
Is there anyone, alive or dead, when gaining extreme power or money, that doesn't begin to think they are above it all? In their attempts to create their vision of Utopia, they actually manage to create pure hell for the rest of us. I hope they self destruct, because there is no one to stop their mischief. Most people are unaware, don't care, or think it's a great idea. Heaven help us!
We are at the point that no one is going to save us. I pray people will do what they can to prepare for the worst, and hope for the best. I see little indication that this happening on a wide scale.
I like your comment about the "pure hell for the rest of us". It reminds me of a comment the Italian archbishop Viganó made in a long-ranging interview: He described this landscape taking shape as "hell on earth". I often think that as I see my formerly familiar nighttime landscape suffused with light pollution. Anyway, it's sometimes good to take a step back and use pithiness -- hence "hell".
This is thought-provoking, Karen. Thanks. I've been thinking of writing a piece about the Twitter sale as well. I think of Musk himself as a kind of "black box" of a person, and not merely in the sense that it's difficult to model his mind and motives. Even his transhumanism - perhaps his one "sincere" expression - might also be an elaborate dodge or swindle.
My greatest hope would be that his purchase of Twitter will lead (accidentally or otherwise) to its destruction. Repairing the damage it has wrought will be a task for the rest of us.
Wow, that's depressing. He's always seemed a little sketchy to me. The fact that he's so hooked into the EV's that the globalists are pushing. That seemed odd. And he just seems "all over the place". It's interesting. My one link to Twitter, through a friend's account, just got severed. She got locked out of her account overnight lol. But I think that's a good thing, actually. I commented there and probably shouldn't have. Thank you for another provocative article. We need to be prodded to think things through, these days, especially. They keep us thinking in "sound bites", too bombarded with things coming at us from all directions to hardly be able to think straight.
Exactly. Trying to remove the sound bites and get to the heart of the matter. It isn't always easy to read--or to write--but I have such a strong calling to keep at this! Thank you for reading!
Hey, you are from Facebook, right? Nice to see you here. Yep. Cleaning up the bots means making everyone identify themselves and pay him for the privilege. Lots of people hide behind fake accounts, too--for various reasons, many of which are legitimate reasons.
Elon seems as concerned about the malice that can be wrought by automation as we are. He probably intends to build systems that don't do that. The real question is whether he'll be able to resist the temptations that come with that much power. Power corrupts. My read is he's better able to resist than most.
By the way, neural nets are not algorithmic. They learn to choose based on their dynamic needs, just like we do. Their success, and their malice, are products of their training. Just like us. Teach your children well.
I disagree that he is concerned about malice, but I would love to be proved wrong. You can read more about Musk here: https://khmezek.substack.com/p/i-dream-of-musk-6b4 and . What I'm saying with the algorithms is that they cannot create AI without putting something into it, thus extracting data from us. Yes, that is the scary part, AI takes on a life of its own. But that also is a deeper subject. And yes, we can train our children well, (although we all make mistakes) we can pray for them, and in the end, they make their own decisions, based on many things that don't include our input. We can take comfort in the verse "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it." The question for some despairing parents is, how old? Thanks for always giving me food for thought!
My wife calls her dogs kids. They make mistakes too, but she patiently corrects them and they get better. AIs will be the same. Some will become criminals and others will track them down and punish them. We have thousands of years experience dealing with rebels. An imperfect world is as good as it gets.
Interesting article Karen. I must say I have a lot of the same concerns.
You wil be interested in a new social media app we developed that addresses many of your concerns. I would love you to come and try it out. https://bit.ly/NOBL-Google-Play-tw
One thing I can say for sure, we live in fascinating times. There is never an end of subject matter to write about. People have been trained to be passive, although they think they are being active by having a busy social media life. They also have been trained to choose convenience without thinking of the long-term consequences. Terrible.
In the Scripture we were told NOT to deface the skin in any way; much less to implant something unnatural in and/or under it!
We musk be suspicious of his intentions - or any one else who is not a threat to the deep state.
I actually want to write something about tattoos, too.
I find most people either love them or hate them. I fall in the second camp. I have never seen one that I liked, and don't understand the attraction at all. Perhaps I'm just old and disagreeable.
This thread confirms to me I should write about tattoos!
Tats aren't the problem, just a visible symptom of the underlying insecurities and fear that afflicts modern society.
I wonder if there's an average time before people with tats regret them. I'm guessing it's not very long. Getting chipped like a dog will probably also produce buyer's remorse.
Don't know.
However, once the skin sags, the tatts will look hideous.
The amount of $ people spent on tatts are surprisingly large.

And the pain. Insecure people will endure anything to be noticed.

It's amazing to me how many people still think EM will save them. I'm heartened that most of my readers do not.

Yes, either its destruction or else, as I wrote absorbed into x. Creepy stuff.
Very frightening vision of the future. I hope the general public will wake up and reject this diabolical technology.
We can but hope! Nice to see you on Twitter again!

Yep, that's what I say here.

Have you seen where Dogecoin is at since you last talked about it?
I didn't look. Up or down, and I guess it doesn't really matter if it's Dogecoin or something else. Whatever it is, we are going the way of CBDCs.
Have you read this book, Karen? It’s very good, and pertinent. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/60165391-survival-of-the-richest
No, I haven't but thanks for recommending it. Looks really interesting.
Well he had better CLEAN up all those "Bots" before he makes that statement again!

Interesting way of looking at it that I hadn't thought about.
