We have been taught to believe we were fighting for some high ideals and freedom- but we were just being slaves to the industrial military complex and putting innocent people on both sides in harms way. Once the bell has been rung, it can't be unrung. I have let go of all my illusions regarding this government and its history. Our history books are more like science fiction. I love my country, but despise the government and all institutions.
As an ex-pat I've been forced to go back to see the truth about my homeland, to see it with fresh eyes. Everything I learned was built on the lies which made the US to be the great Savior of the world, fighting for democracy. It's easy to see why some refer to her as the Great Satan.
