"Love makes you foolish. It makes you throw every bit of logic away, do stupid things, dangerous things." ~ Melissa Marr (romance novelist, the perfect genre for Luxor)

The rate of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Egypt is estimated to be over 90%. Some "Islamic feminists" try to blame it on Western Colonialism, which is pretty hilarious because an 8th-century Chinese doctor (Yuan Fuzheng) described the practice as being prevalent (he was horrified) already during the Abbasid caliphate--1000 years before Western Colonialism.
And of course, we also have hadiths (sayings attributed to the prophet Muhammad) that specifically endorse the practice:
"A woman used to perform circumcision in Medina. The Prophet said to her: Do not cut severely as that is better for a woman and more desirable for a husband".
Well isn't that nice? Apologists have done a lot to whitewash this and other practices (e.g., honor killings) that are fairly prevalent in Islamic countries and which can be justified under Islamic law.
But if we in the U.S. continue injecting pre-pubescent children with puberty blockers and castrating and performing "bottom surgeries" on minors, we will have a hard time claiming that our way is better.
Very true. I am horrorified by it all. What they do in the West, drugging and mutilating children, feels even worse because it's done in the name of science and progress. We are still living in the Dark Ages.
This is so informative. I am glad you are exposing this. My husband's family rents a few buildings to business people. At present he rents one to a guy in his 30s who has a dog day care business. The guy is an American but his family came from Jordan (but originally were from Turkey). His father (he says) is with our military in some secret capacity. Who knows what is true? This guy is super nice to all. He was born American and seems all American. I don't know if he was raised Muslim. He has never married. Sometimes I wonder if he has an alternate life. He attended Ohio State Uni. and studied Zoology. Hope he's legit.
Not everyone is like I've described here, especially if they have been raised in the West, although there are still plenty of horror stories. I tend to accept people as what they present to me until they prove otherwise, but always remain careful, no matter where they are from. It's very difficult to really know someone. Sometimes you can have lived with someone for years and not really know them.

An essential read. Many never think about these relevant details connected to real life when they preach hysterically about diversity and tolerance, and when they say 'everyone is welcome'. The dumbest are usually the loudest, and those with no experience whatsoever about the outside world are the ones telling us all how to live, how to be good. Imbeciles galore. The price many (and their children) end up paying is dramatic. I know it far too well. Marrying into clanic societies, ethnic groups and families usually turns into a nightmare for the foreigner doing it, if he/she doesn't fully submit.
Exactly. It's so frustrating. It's the same when it comes to Israel fighting for its survival; so many on the West refuse to listen. For some crazy reason they think they know better.
It's what CNN, or the Leftist politician or celeb of the moment told them. And you know, experiencing the reality of the world is too costly and dangerous. They rather sit down in front of their TV at home and then develop their full knowledge of everything before giving us moral lessons.
Your post brings back so many memories of my years in neighboring Libya. I only attended 1 wedding (I loved it!) but my parents attended several and were once the honored wedding guests of a Bedouin tribal leader (tent, camels, etc!) Even the music made me smile. Strange what is noise to one culture is melody to another.
Your post also should be a stark reminder to those young and very naive female college students protesting for Palestine, or Hamas, or Gaza. The same goes for gays. They are woefully ignorant of the plight of women or those who chose “alternative” lifestyles, when living in Muslim countries…. one wonders if they would be so supportive if they had a clue about exactly what it is they’re supporting!
There was a movie with Sally Field came out in 1991 called “Not Without My Daughter” that depicts a foreign woman (Sally) who marries a middle eastern man in America. They have a child (girl). When she is 5 or 6 they go to the Middle East all three of them, and this is where Sally finds out that if she goes back to America, she cannot have her child with her. Aldi her husband becomes extremely abusive and Sally must learn the “ways” she must be as a woman there. This movie would never be made today, it is so well done and shows the reality. My youngest daughter when she was 23 met a Middle Eastern guy who was 34 at the time in Southern California. I warned my daughter, but she told me he was just like us and very American. I asked her to look at his mother, and see how they live as all the family was here in California. The mother had to wear complete covering over her, and there was only 1 daughter in the family who did the laundry and was “serving” her brothers in the home- like a maid. I told my daughter that that young man is not Americanized. He wants to date American women, but his family is waiting since he is 34 to settle down with a woman from the Middle East and have children with her. After two years, my daughter was dumped. I am very glad she was dumped, and there was no children involved. The m as n went in to “finally” have a Muslim wife/children. (Btw/ he never liked me lol)
strange... I'mma fan of music of "many lands" an' I found that music patently disturbin'--not melodic, not simply rhythmic or invitin'---but kinda eerie or menacin' or even... "war-like"--as if this was a display of machissmo 'fore goin' off ta battle! The women not so alarmin' but the men seemed to show off--which wouldn't be a thing at a weddin'--an' when that one horse "reared" at the audience I was a bit alarmed--that would indeed intimidate! No sense of conviviality or joy--just... "curious stuff" that felt alien ta me... not all hugs like weddin's I've seen--an' I've been to all kinds, just none ANYTHIN' like this! (but again, just havin' these experiences of the world is clearly a "gift" in a way--one yer sharin' with us--)
Similarly, since it's such a rarefied world of white women marryin' Muslims--givin' us their insights (sadly, how they were or were-soon-to-be duped!) is important in educatin' us--and heartbreakin'. I've commented early on my friend Julie (the merchant marine) who was lured into marryin' "Mou" (Mohammed) who was all sweet as sugar until AFTER they were married at which point he "turned" on her--was abusive physically an' verbally--an' stole ALL she had savin's-wise and... interestin'ly--his mama & sister also went all mean on her... She was luckily--she had her very burly brothers help her out--I think they physically traveled from North Dakota to "speak to Mou"--but somehow she gotta divorce. An' lemme say, she was no wimp herself--petite, yes--but ya need ta be fairly strong of character ta be a merchant marine... So yeah, this IS a thing--an' were it not for her I wouldn't 'a known about it at all--but were it not for you, Karen--I wouldn't'a known this was STANDARD PRACTICE... Those poor women thinkin' their hubbies married 'em for love are lookin' at some actin'--good actin' I guess--but seems like these young fellas rehearsed for the part of rippin' of Western women an' dehumanizin' 'em completely--heartLESS... no doubt...
IMHO those who wanna cheer on the cultures that promote such gawdawful treatment of women--do not want to know. They don't wish ta see it as it goes against their "narrative"--an' I mean narrative as it's a story, made up, but they wanna stick to it... What's odd is it's not only men but women too....

There's a lot of the music that I like but not this. Your time in Lybia sounds wonderful. After about three weddings I'd had enough haha.
Where is all the libtard outrage! It makes me sick to see these female supporters of Hamas say nothing about this kind of abuse.

What a close call!
KHM in your humble opinion, is Islam a cult? After listening to this I have no desire to visit the Middle East especially Egypt
