This is one of the reasons I refuse to use their terminology. When you use their language it alters reality, and normalizes whatever it is they’re trying to push. I will not use their pronouns. I will not call them Minor Attracted Persons, I will continue to call them what they are…pedophiles. I will not call them Vaccines, I will continue to call them what they are…gene therapy. I will not call them Migrants, I will continue to call them what they are…illegal aliens. And on and on…..
If reality offends people, so be it. I just do not care. I refuse to comply, and if more of us refused to participate in their madness, this nonsense would end!
I would agree with what you're saying, to a point, the idea that you prefer that migrants are automatically branded as 'illegal aliens'. Your 'frustration' is palpable - re: the current nefarious shenanigans by the J-Cult overlords, i.e. flooding many countries, with undesirables, not only the US and Canada ...
However, one needs to be ever-mindful that many of these 'territories and states were actually stolen from their original inhabitants and populated by 'illegal' European migrants. So, one man's migrant is another's illegal-alien. If you're really honest with yourself, you might recognise that America (and Canada) have their foundations on GENOCIDE of the native people[s]. So, my point would be to advocate that one should be more circumspect with ones blanket critique/s of the social-engineering being performed by the kith-and-kin of the very same robber-barons who have been dealing in land-theft and human-misery for centuries ... all while agitating to have the 'peasants' fighting with each other.
Enjoy your day ... and, don't fall for what the current administration 'stands' for.
Obama is 22 seconds of a 1:20 clip & is given 10+ images of power. Is the intention that Obama wields the most power, or that he is the biggest fake & holds the most memes?!
I used that Enya song, from the Musk video, at my wedding...the song is mesmerizing..... it is what keeps people coming back not those criminals in the backdrop..... the video actually makes me feel sad and hopeless when you listen to it with music...try and watch it muted...completely different affect....
I live near Vandenberg Space Force Base and Musk promises to launch another 90 rockets next year to complete his Starlink project that he started several years ago. I have been telling people for years that once he rules the heavens, he will rule the earth. We are almost there.
I have been listening to Stephen Hicks on post-modernism. While he is of the Ayn Rand edge, he presents a fair discussion, which is what a good professor should do. I find that he makes (or should say made) the same mistake as Dawkins, believing you don't need the Judeo-Christian ethics in our culture - the foundation won't crack without them. Like many others, I am trying to puzzle out how we landed where we are. In my last substack, I look at Western Culture through the lens of Rene Girard (a Catholic and professor at Stanford) and F.A. Hayek, the economist. I examined the Good Samaritan parable and the Passion. I have no idea if I am correct, but this all sharpens the mind as I muddle through. I will continue to listen to Hicks, as well as James Lindsay, but when it comes to my true North on ethics, I will stay with mathematician and Christian John Lennox.
I've realized that those with true faith remain peaceful. I've watched many Bishop Barron videos as well as those posted by Catholic Brothers and Nuns. They respectfully and peacefully analyze post modernists theories. It is a pathway I am seeking so I don't sink into ad hominem attacks. I never link to my posts, but I am linking my last one. I am far from any type of philosophy/cultural scholar, but I do try to create some type of tools to anchor us to respond to the craziness. Most of the essay can be skipped with the analysis in the second half. https://open.substack.com/pub/kerrylee/p/playing-the-jenga-game-with-western?r=56y1f&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
This is a very good read. Not sure how this fits in but I know a personal vignette about. Bacall; which, I think, shows she never again found her buried “me”. I will be delicate because it involves sexual promiscuity in the late 70s when she was single and in her 50s. Two PGA darlings of the time (not major names you’d recognize today), one several years older than the other, bedded Bacall and Farrah Fawcett. Well before internet fame (and permanence) but reckless behavior has long been a thing among those people idolize. People see the glamor, fantasize the lifestyle, imagine they could “play” like the stars. Meanwhile, the few honest stars, probably wish for normalcy which they far too seldom ever find again.
"To thine own self be true!" (Hamlet, natch!) a soul that struggles sets a high mark indeed! too many don't even KNOW who they are when they start! they cannot fight back so well when they are are still on a learnin' curve an' powerful forces sweep them up! But one quibble... ya don't do justice ta Katherine Hepburn (read 2 bios on her an' know more via others I've read an' as a great fan of hers since kid-hood... I hope ya don't mind some temperin' info--?)
this wasn't so!:
"Katherine Hepburn was plucked out of obscurity by someone powerful and given the ability to live beyond the end of her physical existence. But the price for her transformation was to bury her real self. "
Nope, she wasn't plucked, she REFUSED ta transform herself--an' paid dearly for it BUT she also had a great career... (Also Lauren Bacall didn't struggle all that much ta be molded... more onnit in a sec)
1. Katherine Hepburn lost her brother to a drownin' accident an' never got over it -- she was homeschooled the rest of high school. She was great at sports an' had an intellectually stimulatin' upbringin' by unconventional parents. She only discovered actin' at Bryn Mawr an' decided that was "for her"
2. She wanted ta act SO badly but was (admittedly) awful in her first shows. She saved up an' hired an elocution coach an'--- to her later confession--married her best friend who had become a show producer on b'way who LOVED her madly even tho' she felt nothin' fer him. HE made her career jump start....tho' her first show was SO BAD Dorothy Parker famously wrote she ran the gamut of emotions from A to B! After KH divorced her hubby they remained lifelong friends. She determined NEVER to have kids as that would interfere with her career... She tried out for EVERYTHING, bad, good, ANYTHING..
3. Morning Glory was her big break. When Hollywood came knocking she:
a. refused to let them make her up EXCEPT for a role--she wore no makeup except her signature red lipstick so her MASSIVE FRECKLES were never covered--that ticked 'em off...
b. refused to let them mess with her teeth (which slanted inward)
c. refused to let them tame her wild bushy reddish-brown hair--she REFUSED to cut it, insisted on wearin' it in a Gibson Girl outdated look (her only one all her life)--an' ONLY let them "style it" for roles
d. refused to stop wearin' PANTS--she & Marlene Dietrich & Garbo together set a trend for ladies wearin' pants... Kate was New England thrifty--she wore very pricey clothes but had few an' took good care of them--slacks, turtlenecks--in NYC she created her own "chic"
e. refused to undergo ANY plastic surgery (some wanted her nose reduced, some her chin)--she said NO.
f. against all advice from her managers she fell in love with a married older man (Tracy) who would NEVER divorce his Catholic wife as she wouldn't divorce him--b/c even though their marriage was in name only (they broke up with their special needs son was born).... Tracy just had that line in the sand. So they lived 'in sin" an' the gossip columns trashed her an' she held her chin high an' did her best. Tracy's daughter became a dear friend--Kate refused roles to care for Spencer as he got really really sick in the end. She, not the wife, took care of him. An' yet when he died--she didn't go to the funeral for fear of embarassin' the wife. THAT is character!
g. once she was established, she ticked off the studios an' refused roles an' fought to only take on the ones that she felt worthy--she an' Betty Davis (who also refused cosmetic interventions) were really the two who fought back the most... on their own (not usin' their agents)
h. Kate was not vain like many actors of the time--she appeared in Corn is Green an' other films lookin' like heck--she lived for her roles!
g. Everyone I knew that met her said she was just the loveliest person. Nice, generous, kind. She didn't tolerate fools well but she treated the crew an' cast kindly...always. An' she berated herself in every bio for climbin' on the back of her first hubby /best pal as the most AWFUL thing she ever did.
I think she was the beans! Knew who she was....a lady of character! (an' no she was not gay but she was great pals with many gay folks includin' Georgy Cukor her "best" director!)
Lauren Bacall--born Betty Persky--a nice jooish girl from the Bronx.
She started out as a fashion model who looked like a million bucks (nobuddy knew she was jooish) with the hair, the eyes--AND she had style. But she didn't have (imho) half the talent of Katherine Hepburn THOUGH she was smart (more street smart while the former was really book smart too). LB was only given certain roles--not the really hard ones--because she couldn't go that far in acting. She was easy on the eyes and her fashion work had ALREADY transformed her into a workin' girl's version of Grace Kelly--with all the sex appeal an' style but something more earthy, less ethereal.
She walked an' moved with GREAT style an' the lines she had ta deliver were more 'bout sultry an' less about real emotion--she never got "trained" in stock or doin' lousy shows on tour like Hepburn did. (Hepburn DID earn her dues!) Bacall got discovered--one of her modelin' gigs an' the rest is history.
Last thing--Bacall was a b with an itch. It's a bit known in the industry but I know someone I trust (passed away a couple yrs. ago) that worked with her as script girl on a film so this isn't invented ;-) -- who confirmed she was a diva (unlike Kate) with a huge ego--an' she ordered crew around. She was--imho--an icon an' given that she talked like a sailor when not on set (yes this too lol--but so did Florence Henderson--Mrs Brady!). Bacall knew who she was but she had taken on the style an' allure of one persona for so long she lived it.
That said, I LOVE her in "da moovies"--I'd just ruther have had the honor of meetin' Miz Hepburn who (imho) was REALLY a gal who knew herself, stuck to her guns, did NOT step on a lotta folks an' rued the one she did (who still loved her).
hope this helps a mite with a couple've old skool icons who BOTH had 100X more character than what we see today...
p.s Bacall was fun to watch but Bogart & Jason Robards her hubbies were 2 of my favorite actors evah!
one thing they had in common! Neither could sing an' BOTH did musicals--Kate did Coco ('bout Coco Chanel--nobuddy knew Coco had been a nazi) an' Bacall did Applause! -- it takes guts ta frog croak with style thatta way!
What great info! Thanks for sharing it. And guess what, you made me realize I made a very silly error. I was wondering why you were saying "Katherine Hepburn was plucked out of obscurity by someone powerful and given the ability to live beyond the end of her physical existence. But the price for her transformation was to bury her real self", when it is supposed to be Lauren Bacall who was plucked from obscurity.
Well, you said that because I wrote Katherine Hepburn when I meant to write Lauren Bacall 😭. So I've fixed it! Thank you!
lol! an' agreed then, I think Bacall was manufactured an' took on the persona in public at least--in private from all I gather.... always "Betty from the Bronx!" (methinks charmin' to friends, a bit high handed ta those "servin' her"--I've seen a lotta those types!) And of course Katherine Hepburn was quite the opposite ta people (an' never any diva behavior--punctual, always knew her lines, prepared, etc) but a bit of a pain in Hollywood's neck fer not bein' so compliant! an' outlier to the end who started off as box office poison (that's when they tried ta bully her!) an' ended up as box office gold and that gave her the clout she needed ta ignore whatever they were pushin' an' remain her true self!
One more amusin' anecdote--she ate healthy 'til the end (an' swam regularly) an' kept her slim "figger" BUT had one indulgence--dark chocolate! After Spencer died moved back ta NYC ta live near the UN an' Lilac chocolates (downtown) delivered one small box of fresh dark chocolate to her weekly for decades--'til the end--I hear the young men tasked with delivery fought over who'd git the honor (she tipped generously an' always shared a kind word or anecdote). makes me smile ta think of it! a grand "dame" indeedy
Jesus told Nicodemus who came to him at night (that's where they get the name "Nick at Night" lol) asking questions of Jesus and Nicodemus was the number one Rabbi in all of Israel at the time, Jesus told Nicodemus a man must be born again Nicodemus replied how can a man go back into his mother's womb and be born again and Jesus (I think sarcastically) replied, you're the number one Rabbi in all of Israel and you do not understand what I'm saying? A man born once by water as he's being birthed out of the mother is the first time you're born, the second time you're born and the most important is coming to know Jesus as your Lord and Saviour and when you accept Him by faith as your Lord and Saviour you will be born again spiritually and will have eternal life upon your death... these are all true and very important absolute truths that you need to understand once you are born again the lights are turned on you will see everything around you through God's eyes, that's called discernment and you will see all of the lies for what it is and they are straight from the father of Lies and the author of confusion the Devil Himself ...good night all and Maranatha!!
Is non-Christian Richard Dawkins criticized for appropriating Christian beliefs? It would not be a Christian thing to do, but resembles an attack vector beloved by liberals.
Great post, Karen. Our grip on reality is slipping further by the hour.
One question: it seems that you're implying that Musk created this video when you say, "Musk even includes himself in the mockery, so we know he’s being fair. But notice who he gives the most runway time to: Barack Obama." Does he own Interdimensional TV, the ostensible creator of that video?
This is one of the reasons I refuse to use their terminology. When you use their language it alters reality, and normalizes whatever it is they’re trying to push. I will not use their pronouns. Yep

Good question. If being the biggest fake and holding the most memes means wielding the most power, then yes.
I used that Enya song, from the Musk video, at my wedding...the song is mesmerizing..... it is what keeps people coming back not those criminals in the backdrop..... the video actually makes me feel sad and hopeless when you listen to it with music...try and watch it muted...completely different affect....
Very good point. The music is very powerful.
From a a song by Cold Play. “ God gave us style & gave us grace & put a smile on your face”. I’ll stick to that, the meta whatever can kiss my.
Obama is a very angry and arrogant man... I think. Perhaps Elon is rubbing his nose in that., I don't know..
Elon Musk will play whatever side is best for him.
agree.
I live near Vandenberg Space Force Base and Musk promises to launch another 90 rockets next year to complete his Starlink project that he started several years ago. I have been telling people for years that once he rules the heavens, he will rule the earth. We are almost there.
It's frustrating that people don't realize this. But it isn't just Musk. He is collaborating with the government.
I have been listening to Stephen Hicks on post-modernism. While he is of the Ayn Rand edge, he presents a fair discussion, which is what a good professor should do. John Lennox is brilliant. No other word for it.

Exactly 😁
Very thoughtful and perfectly written, you achieved to converge so many ideas of mine in a very productive and articulate way. Congratulations!
Thank you 🙏
Yes but since I wasn’t directly involved I will leave it at that. Thanks for your thought provoking writing

I have no idea. Whether he had it made or someone else did, he is the one who shared it.
Well written! Umberto Eco would have approved.
Thank you, that's high praise!
