Karen, I look forward to reading your essays. Why?

They reveal you, the real you. A genuine, caring, honest person that loves truth.

I thank God that He's prepared you for a time such as this.

His grace is sufficient! His light is shining and dispelling the darkness through you.

Thank you for sharing your life and the history of your family with us.

Maranatha!

Thank you so very much for including this in your post. I’m an art school dropout and I love art. Your drawings are wonderful.

Thank you! Do you still do your art? I have a BA in art but mostly I learned everything by just doing it.

For most of my life I dabbled but since I became aware of the world of evil I spend all my time reading stuff like yours. Much love to you.

Love to you too. I'm about to publish another essay about the evil--there's too much of it going around.

I am so grateful for your continuing pursuit of the truth, shocking but so important.

You're welcome! Sadly they are out of print but you can still find them out there on the internet. I hope one day they can be brought back in print.

Karen, your art work is so beautiful. The knitted characters! What a precious gift, a reminder that kindness restores our faith in humanity. Thank you for all you contribute. You make this world a better place. Happy 4th!!

Yes, I love them too. I am a knitting failure. I have tried many times

Some people make such adorable things. These dolls are the exact likeness!!!

yeah, SHAME.

I know you do a lot of excellent things, writing and drawing are tip top.

I am not very excellent at anything, just good enough at many things.

You are such a treasure! I wish you were one I could encounter in the neighborhood. I used to think I would be an artist, as a child, but I actually let myself be dissuaded by a bad art teacher. To have your mind and being available and capable to art is a blessed life to live.

Teachers have a lot to answer for! They don't realize.the power they have. With just a few words.they can change the course of a young person's life. My daughter is whiz at math because her math teacher in 4th grade, who was a woman, loved math and my daughter loved that teacher. Katya always says she doesn't know how or why she understands math, but she just does. I, on the other hand, find math a mystery.

Maybe just try painting or drawing for fun. If you still enjoy it. If not, life is too short to force anything ❤️

Thank you for the encouragement! I think I am still apt to art, and some other things too. I'm just trying to simplify my life enough that I have just the few things that will make spacious my days. I'm also on mommy time. I do wish that I had not been so affected by one bad teacher, but that is in the past now.

Just discovered you! Love the illustrations and the stories look fun too, but only 2 of your 19 books are still in print??

Expand full comment

None of them are in print anymore 😢. They all as very well at the time but times change. I think they would be popular again as parents are looking for old fashioned stories with morals. You can still find them online if you buy usually used copies.

I did… and then realized they weren’t in print

Children’s book are so important! I don’t know what I would have done without mine. What a blessing to have had the creativity and skill to write and illustrate them!

All of your drawings are incredibly sweet. I especially like the one of Dagwood pulling Cordelia out of the water, how brave, with the weasel looking fiercely at them

I think each of these books has 24 paintings. I have them all in my closet lol. Some I have framed and given away to family and close friends

what treasures. I really do frame and display cute wonderful artwork.

How sweet to give them to family and good friends. That is pretty much how I am with my quilts and other treasures I create.

I had no idea you were a children's book writer and illustrator. Such a lovely share, thank you. I'm about to embark on illustrating a friend's children's story book, which will be self-published, and absolutely will use only traditional art materials of pencil layout and watercolor.

A bee-u-teeful "tail" an' such a lovely lesson for littles--your illustrations are so charming! (you are blessed ta have so many talents AND the ability to share 'em with not only your fambly but with others the world over!)

This was the STRANGEST 4th ever--last year (bein' our first summer in these-here-boonies), there were local fireworks (at a high school) an' folks seemed to "do their own" too--we could hear'em an' see'em in the distance--this year silence. Not even sure if they did 'em at the high school...

Last year we'd notice drivin' around that in the little towns folks often hung red-white-n' blue garland or bunting 'er put up flags... this year we saw literally NO decorations... strange...

Are folks just givin' up? Feelin' it's all "lost?" I dunno... it felt less of a holiday this year... more like a memorial day!

That said, yer lovely story an' illustrations brought smiles--an' hope (as the creativity in all've us may be the path ta patchin' up the country)--I sure hope so!
