Captagon--never heard've it before but it evokes captured-gone or capt (drawn in attention) & gone, or mebbe even Captain Gone--like nobuddy in charge, no captain of the body makin' decisions... Either way, it makes horrible sense ta me. I don't wunder that these juiced up young men MUST take some kinda drug ta complete the "horrors" an' crimes including that of Jihad -- of self-destruction. I suspect Military service personnel are one of the most medicated cohorts on the planet. They're a useful, unofficial, live experiment for pharmaceutical companies, receiving all manner of mandatory vaccines prior to enlisting and on deployment. So additional pharmaceuticals to "boost readiness" would not be surprising. In times past, alcohol would have been widely utilised as an effective Dutch Courage readiness-booster.
Amphetamines may allow you to run several days on little sleep, but sleep-deprivation alone was found to severely degrade the abilities of Army snipers (by as much as 40% as I recall). Throw in the psychosis that quickly ensues after 3 days of constant amphetamine use, PLUS the debilitating effects of no sleep, and you've got a horrific recipe for a short-lived maniac who likely won't survive long, but he'll do some major unhinged damage in the interim (the meat grinder's Textbook "Effective Soldier").
So I'd doubt this practice is confined only to the side we're told are the savages; ISIS, Hamas and Hezbollah.
