"Life is like a storm. You will bask in the sunlight one moment, be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes. " ~ The Count of Monte Cristo
Almighty and eternal God. You who created the heavens and the earth. We come to you and lift up our dear sister in Christ, Karen Hunt. Please surround her and her family with Your loving and comforting arms during this difficult time. Please sustain them by Your all powerful grace. Please work this out for their good and Your glory! In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen
The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my favourite books too. I reread it every ten or fifteen years. It has always appealed to the young boy in me. Nice to see the theme of what doesn't kill you makes you stronger in your piece, and the suggestion we should embrace it. But boy, is that sometimes tough!
It is tough! But we are stronger. Glad someone else love The Count of Monte Cristo too. People don' t generally read those great classics anymore. People dont have the attention span. I love them. Also, The Man in the Iron Mask, The Three Muskateers. I could go on and on 😊
If you like audiobooks, I listened to the entire 52 hours read by Bill Homewood. It was fascinating the entire time! I have a million bookmarks and notes throughout. Such a great book! Massive intrigue and every ever step on the way was a marvel. Incredible character, Dantes, and his prison companion... Wow!
Keeping you and your family lifted up in prayer. I love this cryptic post - you are an experienced and patient warrior of light! May God's perfect love surround you and your family and strengthen you when darkness dims the path.
The classics have so much to teach us about life. Socialism and social justice activism I wonder is fueled by the expectation that life should be easy and someone else is responsible for happiness and provision of what is needed in life. Perceived problems should be fixed by someone else instead of using one’s own ingenuity and determination to walk through difficulties and come out stronger on the other side.
Currently going through my own family emergency. Taking every last drop of my heart and life to get through this. It is like life itself is pummeling my soul.
Lord, have mercy upon Karen and all who are having waves and billows rolling over them.
It doesn't feel brave or righteous to cry out "If only you would hide me in the grave" like Job or "My God why have you forsaken me" like Jesus. Maybe the honest tears of despair are the seeds of hope.
Thank you!! Lord Your Peace surround us that contend with the darkness with Your strength when we feel weak. Just look at the Love you author pour out here. 🙌

You have inspired me to read The Count of Monte Cristo.
Oh, good! It's one of those wordy, old-fashioned books, and I love it.
